On Thursday 12th, Flick welcomed Oliver Letwin and Chris Grayling to Portsmouth. Oliver Letwin is Minister for Policy in the Cabinet Office, and was delighted to visit some of our excellent small businesses with Flick. He even made a purchase from Coco chocolatiers for his wife as Valentine’s day is nearly upon us! Oliver was later interviewed by The News in Southsea Coffee Co in Osborne Road and he paid tribute to our “flourishing” small business sector.
Later that day, the Justice Secretary Chris Grayling was shown a local “head shop” by Flick and they discussed the dangers of so-called “legal high” drugs with two families who have been badly affected by them. Flick said “These are dangerous untested chemicals which can cause huge damage. They are available even to children who have no way of knowing what they are taking, and we have to deal with this menace by legislation in the new Parliament”. Flick and Chris also visited ANA Treatment Centre in Albert Rd, where they saw the facilities which help recovering addicts, and heard personal testimony to the work ANA do from someone who is himself overcoming drug problems.
